Plot:
This series revolves around 2 strong-willed cousins, Molly and Cherry. Known as Mall-姐 by most of her
staff, Molly is a control freak and is a perfectionist. She demands everything and everyone around her to
be absolutely perfect and flawless. One of the victim from her unrealistic goal of being perfect is her
younger cousin is Cherry, who has been with her since childhood and is extremely loyal to her. Both of
the cousins work in a mall management company where Cherry works under Molly as one of her
subordinates. Molly’s goes berserk and her life gets turned upside down when Gordon enters the
company as a manager and Molly feels threatened about her place in the company. Molly and Gordon
were lovers in their teenage years all through to when they started working in the same company, but
their relationship came to an end when Gordon was sent to Mainland for work and comes back with
another women. After this incident, Molly loses all faith in men and believes that being single is better
than being attached as she believes that all men are the same, unreliable and changes their heart easily.
Gordon and Molly’s clashing working method has caused there to be multiple conflicts between them
regarding how the company should function with Gordon’s slightly more modern working style compared
to Molly’s traditional working style. However, Molly’s leadership skills and working method has led her
team to several noticeable results. But soon after Gordon’s addition to the company, Molly slowly finds
herself falling in love with Gordon all over again.

Vincent Wong enters this story as a contractor specialising in events turned into a office worker under
Gordon. As Saving and Cherry work under the same company, sparks start to alight between these two
after several incidents. Their love story started before Vincent Wong was an office worker, it was when
Saving helped Cherry to get over a breakup when she realised that her boyfriend of several years,
贱-Han (played by Lok Yi-Lai) is cheating on her with another women from Mainland. After this. Cherry
starts to fall for Saving for his caring and boyfriend-material personality. But as these 2 cousins are slowly
reaching the ‘expiry’ age of a woman, they are struggling to find someone that they will be able to spend
the rest of their lives with. Finding a true love at their age of 30+ is already a challenge and with
Taiwanese and Mainland women in their way who are naturally equipped with top-notch flirting skills. It
would put the relationship with their partners through the test.

Song Thoughts:
Theme Song 主题曲 - 《我不会撒娇 》何雁诗
Interlude 插曲 - 《陪着你走》王浩信  谭嘉儀
Ending Song片尾曲 - 《手中沙》HANA
I think that the theme and ending song of this series is tailor-made for this drama, it’s so fitting! The name
of the theme song《我不会撒娇 》literally translates to ‘I don’t know how to flirt’ which perfectly describes
the two cousins as they are very career-minded and they are not as capable in flirting as they are in
business. From this song, the lyrics also very slightly touches on the social standards that society today
have set for women, “难道求生都必须要 懂得怎笑 练到细腰 来炫耀“ which would literally translate to ‘has
it become a necessity to know how to smile and to have a smaller waist in order to show it off’. I really like
the message that this song has brought with it as well as it’s context with the storyline of the drama. The
ending song vaguely sums up the love story of Molly and Gordon, the lyrics of the song very indistinctly
outlines the event of the series. I really like the melody of these two songs as they are very soothing and
very pleasing to the ear. When played in the series, it is not very distracting whereas it just adds another
layer to the graphics and provides a more solid drama to the audiences.《陪着你走》is an extremely
amazing song and the impact that it would leave on you as the audience is unbelievable, after finishing
this series this song have left a very prominent imprint in my mind. This song IS the song that describes
the love story of Saving and Cherry, most of the things that I find really cute for them as a couple is from
this song, the ICQ reference and the way he surprised her in Taipei with this song was really touching.
This story that come along with this song everytime I listen to it after My Unfair Lady is really astounding
as to how much meaning a song can have.

Review:
This is one of the series this year that had left quite an impression on me. I really liked this series as all
the actors and actress in this drama carried their weight and this ensemble of actors had a really great
dynamic together. I think that Zoie who played Annie in this series was really good in this series. Even
though she was not one of the main characters, I think that she did really well in here as most of her
scenes were really persuasive and her crying scenes were really natural. There were several love story
and relationships that were being established simultaneously at one point of the series which might be
slightly overwhelming to some but I personally liked it. Personally, I think that they start of the series
might be quite boring as there isn’t really an event that hooks in the audience's’ attention and might
cause a lot of audience to stop watching this series due to the not-as-interesting start to the series. This
series had actors and crews from Taiwan, China and Hong Kong taking part in the production of this
which is already pretty astounding to me making this series quite global. My Unfair Lady also featured
not 1 but 2 comebacks of seasoned veteran who were Jessica Hsuan and Frankie Lam who were both
the main leads of this series. I think that both of them being the lead carried this series to a whole new
level as their acting is more ‘deep’, I guess which added another dimension to this drama.

Jessica Hsuan → Molly Ling / Mall-姐
Mall-姐 is not someone that you would want to mess with, she is one tough cookie. Jessica Hsuan
portrayed this character as one who is tough, independent and an extremely capable businesswomen. I
think that being a veteran, Jessica added more to this character and managed to express her emotions
really well with the way that she delivers her lines. The lines that she delivered were really effective was
because controlled the pace and the volume of the lines to maximise the impact the she is having on the
audiences. I really like the character development of Mall-姐 as you can really see her personality at the
start and you begin to explore her character as the series follows and you start to know more about her
and who she really is. Towards the middle and the end where she is with Gordon, you can then tell how
she is change with the power of love (haha sorry for this cliche) and how Gordon is the only one who can
control her temper and also how her temper is more tamed around Gordon. You can also tell how well he
understands her and also how lovable of a couple they are when they compromise between themselves
and love their partners for who they are. Jessica Hsuan really brought out all of Mall-姐 in her
performance and I really liked her performance in this series. How Molly treats her subordinates could be
really intimidating at times due to how controlling of a person she is, but you can really see the side of
her which is more feminine when she is around her pet french bulldog who is SUPER adorable, even
though she also expects her dog to be perfectly trained and does not allow any space for playing or
fooling around but I guess that is part of being Mall-姐, a person who seeks perfection in everything she
does.

Frankie Lam → Gordon / 文念深
I really liked Frankie’s performance in this series, he was really natural and his acting was really
persuasive. He really pulled off Gordon’s character of being intellectual and the way he presented himself
was smart but casual at the same time. Charismatic as always, Frankie was presented as a playboy at
the start of the series where he is just in for the fun and not for long-term but everything changes when
Gordon and Molly re-met about a decade after they broke up. Frankie did really well in this series and his
scenes with Molly were really nice to see, as they acted really amazingly alongside each other. The
scene where he wanted to be back together with Molly again really showed who he is, despite the very
playboy-ish personality and sometimes slightly manipulative Gordon, he needs someone one to ‘control’
and who better to do that than Mall-姐. Both of them are a match made in heaven. Gordon’s character
and his personality was already really clear even since he was shown as the first scene where we meet
him was in the marketing event in a mall where he broke out in a fight with Molly which caused him to be
slapped. From there despite the quite short scene, as the audience we start to have an idea that they
used to be together as the emotion that was shown in Jessica’s face showed how much he hated him
but also at the same time still had feelings for him. At the start of the series, Molly and Gordon had a
very love-hate relationship, Gordon might have had this feeling as he left Molly years ago which might
have made him guilty but might have realised that he still loved Molly after leaving. But his purpose
returning to Molly’s life this time was to try to tame her bad temper and over controlling personality,
which was why he had to appear as a competitor in her career and proceed to change the way she
works, in a sense. Nonetheless, I think that this series was really great for Frankie to sort of re-debut
after taking a break as it allowed him to showcase his acting skills.

Natalie Tong → Cherry /  凌禹勤
Natalie as Cherry, the good girl in the series who was kind-hearted and caring. I absolutely LOVED this
character. I think that Natalie was made for this character, Cherry was such a nice girl she was caring,
organised, loyal and so kind. Natalie’s voice suited this character perfectly, it was such a sweet voice
which match perfectly to her cheery personality. She executed this character amazingly as her emotions
were really fitting to her emotions and the way she delivered her lines were really natural. Her
performance was really believable and made Cherry such a lovable character. Even though the ending
was really sad, I still liked Cherry’s character as she always put the feelings of the people around her
before hers which was really nice to see. The character development of Cherry was really nice as we
could see her she has matured and grown with every event that she has experienced. The backstory
from their childhood with Molly was also great as it allowed us to have a better understanding of both of
Molly’s and Cherry’s character and how they are who they are today. The scene where Cherry stood up
for herself against her cousin, Mall-姐 was amazing. This scene I think was the greatest development of
Cherry’s character from this we can not only see how much she loves Saving but also how independent
she has grown and not to be so reliant on Mall-姐 anymore.

Vincent Wong → Saving / 程日晖
Vincent Wong! Most probably TVB’s most popular guy this year. 3 series and 3 main roles. Hard to beat!
I expected quite a lot from him after Legal Mavericks and all I can say after this series would be that he
did not let down. Not at all. I absolutely LOVED Vincent Wong in this series and I adore Vincent Wong
personally (or should I say OBSESSED). But Saving is THE boyfriend-material that every girl is looking
for. He is warm-hearted, loving, romantic and basically anything that you would look for in a guy. He is an
extremely down-to-earth guy who is also extremely humorous and lovable and like honestly what is not
to like about him? But there are times where I do find his character slightly sloppy to a certain extent. I
think that Vincent Wong played this character really well and sold the character to the audience. His
performance was natural and believable although there are times where I think that it might be slightly
over which sort of breaks the whole character. BUT most of the time he was amazing on screen and
carried the character well. Excited to see more of his works in the future…

Partners:
Molly & Gordon → Jessica Hsuan & Frankie Lam

Two teenage lovers who had a sad ending relighting the spark between them years after. They were
amazing! 2 seasoned veterans being back on screen again after years. As a couple, they acting skills in
this series were superb. The bond that they had with each other as actors and also the roles was
AMAZING. But I think that since their pairing was the ‘main’ couple as compared with Saving & Cherry t
heir love story could have been developed more as personally, I think that it has so much more potential
than the ‘one - dimensional’ love story which was given to us. With the mediocre love story given to them,
I think that Jessica & Frankie did amazing as I think that they really tried their best to stretch the storyline
in order to add more ‘feels’ and dimension to this couple. My favourite scenes of them would be those in
the office from the beginning where Gordon was first introduced into the office as I think that the
personalities of their characters and roles was best shown from the scenes in the office as you could tell
how their get along with the people around them on the daily basis and also how seriously they take their
work (work-life balance). It’s also interesting as the office was where they officially became a couple
again years after they broke up.

Saving & Cherry → Vincent Wong & Natalie

Saving and Cherry the power couple in the series which became the talk of the town. I've to say the
deserved it and lived up to their names. They are so goddamn cute together! I really liked this couple
from the series as I think that both of these characters suited each other so well together. A kind,
romantic guy paired up with a loving caring girl, what more could you ask for! Their like relationship
development ( I guess..) was amazing, you could tell how Cherry slowly starts to fall in love with Saving
and how protective Saving was of Cherry when they were together was so cute! I like how these 2
characters understood their partners and gave in to each other which I thought was really sweet! How
Saving gave in to Cherry to get married even though he has a fear of marriage was really cute to see as
Vincent Wong’s portrayal of his expressions every time the idea of marriage was brought up was really
persuasive and the audiences could also see how much love can change a person. Another time where
one of them had to compromise with their principle was the time where Cherry resigned her current job
in order to fully support Saving in his startup career. The scene where Cherry stood up to Molly was a
really addition to the storyline as it showed how much she was willing to sacrifice for Saving but also at
the same time we could see the dilemma that she went through before the decision that she made so
major kudos to Natalie Tong for really selling this character. Their love story was so touching that it got
me tearing up when their relationship had to end. It was really touching to see that Saving has been
waiting for Cherry for years and even saved the very first Bobby Band for the day where they meet again
with the chords of their ‘love song’ on the back of it.Their ending was left really open for the audience
which I liked but didn’t at the same time as it isn’t really TVB’s style to have an open ending which was
really refreshing to see and left space for the audience's’ imagination but on the other hand, I’m a sucker
for happy endings (especially for this couple).

Annie & Oscar → Zoie Tam & Max Cheung
Despite being the supporting roles, these two definitely made a name for themselves after this series. I
really liked both of their characters development and also how their relationship progressed. It wasn’t too
rushed but at the same time there was something going on. How supportive Oscar was of Annie when
she ran into problems was a really nice to do even after Annie have rejected him. Their ending wasn’t
really made clear to the audience but I guess that they are still friends progressing to be a couple.
Nonetheless, I think that this pairing was really nice as they enhanced each other’s acting when they are
in front of the screen/camera together.
