The most reputable, anticipated and the last of the 3 annual award ceremonies to honour the finest artistes and programmes of the ‘seasons’. Last year’s (2017) anniversary award has been postponed to this year (2018) in order for dramas such as My Ages Apart (跨时代) along with Heart and Greed (溏心风暴 3) to finishing airing before the ceremony and to be in the running for the race. TVB released half of the nominees for each of the awards available on the ceremony last year (around September to October, I think) and the full list of nominees has been revealed to the public last December for the ceremony which would be held in Hong Kong on January 21 2018.
Below is the full nominees for TVB Anniversary Awards 2017 along with my opinions for each of the categories:

This year’s awards ceremony puts Starhub TVB Awards’ TV King - Vincent Wong against seasoned veteran and TVB Star Awards Malaysia’s newly crowned TV King - Michael Miu along with a strong contender of TV King, Kenneth Ma whose popularity soared after ‘The Exorcist’s Meter’.
To be honest, I have only watched a handful of TV Series which was brought up in the list which may affect the person who I would preferred to win. After ‘The Exorcist’s Meter’ finished airing, Kenneth Ma’s popularity rose rapidly and given that I did not watch that series I was quite dumbfounded but after the buzz going on with this series and a lot of good reviews given on it, I would definitely be watching it soon. Even though I would prefer Vincent Wong to win the ‘Best Actor’ award for his role as Hope Man in Legal Mavericks (if you haven’t read previous blogspot, I am a HUGE fan of Vincent Wong 😍). Despite me being biased, I think that he did amazing in Legal Mavericks (you can check out my review here) as a blind lawyer but his chances of winning may have decreased as TVB rarely gives out 2 awards for the same actor for the same category.

I think that both Joel Chan and Owen Cheung did really well for their respective series, ‘The Unholy Alliance’ and ‘Legal Mavericks’ as I feel that both of these series has gave both of these actors an identity and these series allowed them to show and present their characters and themselves to the public in the best way. As both of them have been recognised in their works in the Starhub TVB Awards 2017 and the TVB Star Awards Malaysia 2017 which is why I think that this awards might be presented to Jimmy Au or Benz Hui during the ceremony in Hong Kong (which is tomorrow!!) due to the fact that when the predecessor of ‘Line Walker: The Prelude’, ‘Line Walker’ aired Benz Hui was presented the title of the Best Support Actor during the Starhub TVB Awards 2014.

‘The Exorcist’s Meter’ is a series to immediately rose to fame after it aired due to the unconventional theme that it has which stood out to the audiences of TVB series as this series went the ‘supernatural’ route which turned out to be successful with an ensemble of touching scenes, great script and a team of great casts despite not being a big production, with a low budget.
Personally, I would root for Legal Mavericks because of it’s absolutely amazing orchestra of casts, scripts and a fair share of touching scene. I really liked this series because of how it’s title says《踩过界》this plot dares to challenge the social norms by discussing controversial topics in the cases which they incorporate in this series.

I’m not really sure for the ‘Predicted Winner’ for this category as I think that for this category it’s really could be anyone’s game but personally, I would really like Vincent Wong and Owen Cheung to win for their roles in ‘Legal Mavericks’ as I think that both of them, the actors and the characters, had really great chemistry with each other in this series and both of them enhanced each other’s performances when they are on screen together which is really nice to see.

I think that HANA might win with the song that she sang for the interlude of ‘Line Walker: The Prelude’, 《 忘记我自己》 since this song has been hit after the series aired. But personally, I really liked 《欲言而止》which is also sung by HANA but this song is a duet along with Vincent Wong. I was a huge fan of 《陪着你走》which was sung by Kayee Tam an interlude along with 《爱近在眼前》sung by Stephanie Ho which was the ending theme of ‘Legal Mavericks’ but… when Heart and Greed aired, I fell in love with this song!

I have absolutely no idea why Vincent Wong has been nominated for his role in ‘My Unfair Lady’ than for his role as Hope Man in ‘Legal Mavericks’, both of which are amazing but I think that Hope Man would have a higher chance of winning. I think that Kenneth Ma would have the highest chance of winning out of all 3 of them due to the popularity that his character in ‘The Exorcist’s Meter’ has gained.

I think that Mandy Wong in this category because since she wasn’t nominated for ‘Best Actress’ her fans would most probably be voting for her role in this series as she gained a lot of popularity from this series having a dual-character role and have received a lot of praises for her performance in ‘The Exorcist’s Meter’. I personally would root for Eliza Sam for her role in ‘Heart and Greed’ as even though her performance in the series was not Best-Actress-worthy, in my opinions, I still think that she did REALLY GREAT in that series and I really hope that she would receive this awards in tomorrow’s awards ceremony.
This is it from me for this year’s TVB Anniversary Awards, I think that this year they made have made some unnecessary nominations which have caused the the nominees list to be very length, just like this blogpost 😝 . There is bound to have some disappointment in the awards ceremony tomorrow as well as surprises.
